Some things change, some stay the same

Wow! It's been almost a year since the last time I posted here! What a crazy, crazy year it's been.  Our lives have changed in ways I never would have imagined- I spent 4 months with our eldest in-and-out of the hospital and ended up enrolling her in an online school & teaching her at home.

I've never stopped making, though! My crafty cousin and I have done 2 craft shows over the past year and I'm proud to say I'm even more committed to my art than ever.  Now if only I could get the hang of scheduling our lives, keeping house and keeping my patience.......

Knock-knock!

My 2.5 year old has discovered knock-knock jokes thanks to Yo Gabba Gabba. The original version of the joke went like this:
Knock-knock!
Who's there?
Interrupting cow!
Interrupting co-
MOOO!

Ha ha, right? Then her 9 year old sister invented the Interrupting starfish which involves slapping your hand over the asker's face since (as far as I know) starfish don't make noise. It's hi-larious if you're one of my kids, trust me.

The 2 year old's current version of this joke:

Knock-knock!
Who's there?
Interrupting cow! (or starfish)
Interrupting co-
Why you sad??

Huh? "Why you sad?"?? We have NO idea where this came from. She asks it in the sweetest, most compassionate voice you've ever heard. The contrast between the giggly silliness of the set up and the mature sincerity of her "punchline" never fails to crack me up. It's like the greatest existential joke ever. I can't wait to see what this kid is like when she's older.

I *Love* The Library

I stopped off at the library last night to drop off 27 of the 34 books I've currently got checked out (no joke!) and they finally got the copy of Irene Semanchuk's "Faux Surfaces in Polymer Clay" . I'm so in love with this book! I'm bribing myself that if I get the bookkeeping & grocery shopping done this morning I can work on the book's version of faux rusted steel or abalone. Jenny Cox's faux abalone recipe is one of my favorites as well.
If there is one thing (and there is only one thing) that drives me up a wall about working with polymer clay it's the complete and total LACK of boundries. Seriously! Every single time I end up at my workbench I'm almost vapor-locked by the zillions of options. Do I want to make canes? Play with faux surfaces? Scuplt? Make a picture? Make beads? Pendants? Clasps? Bracelets? Don't even start me on what COLOR to choose....

If I can keep my end of the bargain (wait... BOTH ends are mine, aren't they? Darnit.) I'll try to get some pics up of what I manage to create.

Moving Day

Moving day.... for the blog, anyway. Maintaining ...And She Was on my domain is proving to be a bit beyond my technical abilities so I thought I'd give Blogger a try. I probably should have whipped up a deeply interesting post but then it'd be all downhill from here, right? In lieu of original thought how about a couple polymer clay links I think are awesome?
Pillow beads are my current frustration so here goes:
